Call to protest outside the Turkish embassy in London

The Turkish authorities have resumed shelling across the Iraqi border into Kurdish areas of Iraq. They have said they are targeting the fighters of Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), however, civilians injured and died and livestock has been hit and forcing the inhabitants to evacuate.

On 21 August 2011, seven members of the same family killed by the Turkish bombardment, reported Hawlati online in Kurdish on Sunday. They are: Hussein Mustafa Hassan, Sonya Shamal Hassan, Mer Haji Mak Kak, Oskar Awzer Hassan, Rezan Hussein Mustafa and Zana Hussein Mustafa. The family were resident of the village of Boleni of Binari Qandil. Turkey regularly bomb Kurdistan border regions under the pretext of eliminating Kurdish rebels.

Freedom Umbrella (Chatre Azadi) is holding a protest in front of the Turkish embassy in London to condemn shelling of the mountainous area on the border of Kurdistan by the Turkish authorities. In a statement issued by the organisation in Kurdish requested: “Stop shelling the border region of Kurdistan and compensations to be made to the victims of this bombardment.”
